Winter is my least favorite season, mostly because I'm always cold! I've spent years trying to perfect the art of staying warm indoors without breaking the bank. It's been a journey of discovery, filled with some surprising successes and a few hilarious failures. Let me share what I've learned about how to keep those winter chills away from the comfort of your own home.
I live in an older house, and let's just say the insulation isn't exactly state-of-the-art. I also try to be mindful of my energy consumption and bills. I used to find myself shivering even with the thermostat set at a reasonable temperature. I was determined to find a solution that didn't involve cranking up the heat and emptying my wallet.
My first realization came when I noticed how much heat I was losing through my feet. Walking around in socks or barefoot on a cold floor was basically like throwing money out the window. So, I invested in a good pair of moccasins. It made a huge difference! Seriously, it was like night and day. Suddenly, my feet weren't freezing, and my whole body felt warmer. I also noticed drafts, especially around the windows and doors. Sealing those up helped a lot too.
I also learned the importance of layering. A simple hoodie and beanie can do wonders, especially if your bedroom gets some sunlight during the day. My bedroom does get warmer in the afternoon, but still, I needed more. I also found myself thinking about how my dad, who’s getting older, likes to keep the house a bit warmer than I usually would. We compromise, but I still need to find ways to stay comfortable without constantly adjusting the thermostat. That’s where the layering comes in!
Here's what I've found works best for me:
Speaking of beanies, I recently came across these Real Fox Fur Pom Poms Hats for Women from homepage. I was looking for something fashionable and functional, and these seemed to fit the bill. I got one in light blue. It's incredibly warm and stylish, and the real fur pom poms add a touch of fun to my winter outfits. Finding the right hat is essential for keeping warm, and Wholecustomdesign has a great selection. The quality is excellent, and it's a great way to treat yourself (or someone else!) during the cold months. When choosing a winter hat, look for materials like wool or rabbit fur that provide good insulation.

I usually set my thermostat around 60'F, but with these layers, I feel very comfortable.
I also invested in a heated blanket. I use it primarily in the evenings while I'm reading or watching TV. It's amazing how much warmer I feel with just that one extra layer of heat. I can keep the thermostat a bit lower and still be perfectly comfortable. It's also great for warming up the bed before I get in!
